All lit up for Christmas

Collaboration and Co-operation formed a major part of this contract to provide three new major structrures on a new scheme in Uyo, Nigeria.

Our design team  liaised closely with our customer Branton Knight, who acted as the agent  for the Nigerian contingent,  to produce a structure that was the right size and weight for shipping whilst meeting the aesthetic requirements.

Two 26.5m spans were produced that would be assembled on site to form one 53m long bridge over a dial carriageway.  The steps either side were manufactured in sections to reduce space taken up on the ship for export.

CTS manufactured the bridge deck and step treads using FRP material in order to keep the weight down.  Another benefit of the FRP deck is the minimal maintenance and its ability to withstand the extreme temperature and rainfall that Nigeria experiences.
