Last of the Summer Wine Bridge

The bespoke steel beam bridge was installed recently at Brownhill Reservoir, Holme near Holmfirth, Huddersfield.  Brownhill Reservoir is a local beauty spot, often seen on Last of the Summer Wine television programme,  which featured characters such as Compo, Clegg, Foggy and Norah Battye.  The footbridge provides safe access over the reservoir spillway and forms part of a much used walking route.

The 12.5m long x 1.5m wide steel bridge has a plasma cut diamond grid pattern which also features on the four mock arch panels fixed below the main beams.  The deck on the bridge has the Hi-Grip Excel non-slip inserts into FSC Ekki hardwood timber to provide a non-slip tread for walkers and other users.

With the bridge being installed at a local beauty spot, consultation took place for many months with local residents, the main contractor (J N Bentley) and Kirklees Council unti the final style could be approved and CTS got the go ahead to design, manufacture and install the bridge on site.
