The bridge was designed for cycleway use with a P4 vertical infill parapet at 1.4m high.

A additional framed mesh parapet was provided along the sides and top of the truss bridge to enhance safety measures for both the cyclists and traffic using the road below.

The steel plate deck was overlaid with Hi-Grip Plus non-slip surfacing which gives a safe surface for cyclists.
